Continuing the inspection, here's the top, complete with scuffs, ring marks, scratches, and so on. What you can't see is that the cabinet is actually made from solid timber, not plywood and veneer like most radios. I did say that this was a high-quality set, and it is. (In fact, every bit as good as the cheaper Marconiphone equivalent!)

Before doing the work, you can never be sure how well a cabinet in this state will turn out: experience tells me that with luck this one will come out OK, but what 'OK' will actually look like in this case remains to be seen.
